Venue opens at 6:30 am on Saturday/Sunday
Weapons check also available Friday 6 pm - 8 pm.

This is the 4th Annual event honoring Danny Bukantz, Champion Fencer, Olympic referee, and this season the final event of the 2009-10 Regional Open Circuit. Open to any fencer aged 13 (born 1996 or before) or on the Junior National Rolling Points List.

SN Qualification - (1) Those who finish in the top 10% (with a minimum of 4) will qualify for the Division I-A Championships at Summer Nationals; (2) Fencers with C& under ratings finishing in top 10% also qualify for Div II/III at SN; (3) All veterans competing will qualify for Veteran Events.

Foreign fencers are welcome to participate, however foreign fencers will not be counted as part of the field for the purpose of calculating the 10% who qualify for the Division I-A Championships, as foreign fencers are not eligible to compete at Summer Nationals.

Points are awarded to the top 32 places at ROC events, however, the ROC points list is separate from the National Rolling Points List. http://usfaroc.askfred.net/Results/pointsLists.php

FEES
- Registrations made after May 1 require payment or late fee applies.
- Unpaid registrations prior to May 1 pay regular fee - can pay either through FRED or at the door
--- Preregistered prior to May 1: $20 registration fee (nonrefundable) plus $45 per event.
--- Pregistered May 1-13 and paid on-line: $20 registration fee (nonrefundable) plus $45 per event.
--- Pregistered May 1-13 and not paid: $20 registration fee plus $55 per event payable at the door.
--- Late/incomplete registrations/Walk-ins: $20 registration fee plus $55 per event.
On-line registration closes Thursday, May 13, 2010; after May 13 walk-in fees apply After May 13 all payments taken at the door.

Payments made at the door must be in cash or check only. CREDIT CARDS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. Refund requests (event fee only) must be received at least 2 days prior to the event.
Registration fees are nonrefundable.

ENTRY
You MUST show your valid USFA card, FIE license, or other fencing federation membership. If no proof of membership, or payment being made, you must complete and pay for USFA membership. You may join USFA at the door (parent signature required for fencers under age 18), however please arrive with a completed form or plan to come early to complete required paperwork. Please have separate checks made out to USFA or use your credit card (preferred) for your USFA membership payment.

All fencers must meet USFA birth year requirements. Fencers must be at least 13 years old (born 1996 or before), or be on the National Junior Points List (if your entry is rejected for age and you are on the JR points list, notify us and we will handle your entry)

All fencers must wear required fencing attire and bring at least 2 working weapons and 2 working body cords. There will be a weapons check. Names printed on uniforms are required.

NO VISOR MASKS ALLOWED IN EPEE AND FOIL

** Liability waiver - Upon entering this tournament you agree to abide by the current rules of the USFA and other applicable rules instituted by NJFA. You acknowledge you are entering this tournament at your own risk and release the USFA and its sponsors, NJFA, and referees from any liability. With entry you give consent to NJFA to obtain medical care from any licensed physician, hospital or clinic for any injury or illness that may arise during activities associated with this tournament. Photographs/video may be taken. Any fencer wishing to opt out of media coverage must present in person to the Bout Committee**

TOURNAMENT FORMAT
-Only official USFA ratings will be used for initial seeding.
-Initial seeding using National Senior Rolling Points within each classification, then classification/year.
-One round of pools with 100% promotion to Direct Elimination rounds.
-No fence-off for third place
-Medals awarded to 8th place.
Fencers are responsible for ensuring accuracy of all posted information and must report errors to the bout committee immediately. Fencer signature on pool score sheets and DE bout slip implies accuracy.

LOCATION
New Jersey Fencing Alliance is located at 50-58 Burnett Avenue, off Springfield Avenue via Vermont St.(use 54 Burnett Avenue for Mapquest); Maplewood, NJ, 07040. NJFA is conveniently located minutes from east-west routes of US78, US280, and US24, just off Garden State Parkway, and 10 minutes from NJ Turnpike/I-95). NJFA is only 1.5 miles from the Maplewood Train Station – only ½ hour ride from NYC Penn Station or Hoboken - http://www.njtransit.com/sf/sf_servlet.srv?hdnPageAction=TrainTo. We are only 6 miles by car/taxi from Newark Liberty International Airport.

NJFA is a state-of-the art fencing salle offering grounded metal strips with machines located in the middle as well as repeater lights at each end. Full sound system, changing rooms, FREE Wireless Internet service, FREE parking, on-site Fencing Store.
