The USFA Western Washington Division presents
The Battle in Seattle
January 28-30, 2011
at Rain City Fencing Center in Bellevue, WA

The Battle in Seattle is traditionally one of the Western Washington Division's largest annual events, drawing top fencers from all over the Pacific Northwest.

This year, the Battle in Seattle is again part of the Regional Open Circuit (ROC). The top 10% of finishers (with a minimum of 4) in the senior events will qualify for Division I-A at Summer Nationals.

Veteran fencers that compete in the senior events will automatically qualify for the corresponding veteran event at Summer Nationals. Competing in the veteran events on Friday evening WILL NOT qualify you for Summer Nationals.

Fencers may NOT fence in two simultaneous events under any circumstances.

All events will be fenced as a single round of pools, followed by straight direct-elimination, no fence-off for third.

Prizes will be awarded to the top 8 finishers in the senior events, and top 4 in the veteran events.

---------- Tournament Rules ----------

All fencers must be current competitive members of the USFA. You may join or renew your USFA membership at the door. Canadian fencers must be current CFF members.

Full USFA regulation uniform is required, including plastron, knickers, and knee-length socks. No jeans or sweatpants allowed.

This year, names are NOT required on fencer uniforms (unlike last year.)

USA Fencing has NOT yet adopted the electric foil mask bib, so "standard" foil/epee masks may be used. Fencers may wear masks with the new bib, but they may not use tape to cover the conductive part (for safety reasons.)

USFA rules require that all participants were born in 1997 or earlier. The veteran events are open to all fencers born in 1970 or earlier.

---------- Equipment Check ----------

Please arrive early to allow time for equipment checks. We will be checking masks, lames, and bodycords.

Fencers in the Seattle area can get equipment checked prior to the event at the following times:

- Wednesday, 1/26 at Salle Auriol Seattle from 7:30 - 9:00pm
- Thursday, 1/27 at Salle Auriol Seattle and Rain City Fencing center from 7:30 - 9:00pm
- Friday, 1/28 at Rain City Fencing Center from 6:00 - 9:00pm (Priority will be given to those fencing in the vet events until after the pools have started)
