for more details about the qualification paths from ROC tournaments.

Equipment check will be the same as national tournaments, including body and mask cords and foil bibs. We will have high level national referees directing the tournament. Replay will be used for the semi-final and final bouts in each event.

1st Place winners in each event will take home a US 1860 cavalry sword (replica). Additionally, the winner of any event with 30+ fencers will be awarded a $300 gift certificate for fencing equipment. Custom die-cast "ROC of the Rockies" medals will be awarded out to eight places.

VENUE WILL BE OPEN AT 4:00pm FRIDAY, 8:00am SATURDAY and 8:00am SUNDAY for weapons check and warm-up. You may have armory check-in your equipment for the tournament any time after 4:00pm Friday.

Free parking at the venue is available on street, inside the south gate, and in front of the Denver Fencing Center building. Please do not block driveways or use the parking areas of other businesses in the neighborhood.

We will be providing transportation between the I25-Broadway RTD Light Rail station and the venue at Denver Fencing Center on both days of the tournament. It will help us keep the schedule running more smoothly if we have an advance idea of how many fencers are planning to take the train and will need a ride. Please email the "tournament organizer" via askfred, or contact me directly at meeb@hughes.net beforehand, and I'll send you some instructions on how to contact us for a pick up at the station.

The city of Denver offers a multitude of activities that will be of interest to visiting fencers and their families. Restaurants and micro-breweries are varied and plentiful. The Marriott Denver Tech Center is a brief RTD light rail trip to, and the downtown Courtyard Marriott, is within easy walking distance of, the Denver Performing Arts Center, the 16th Street Mall, the Tattered Cover Bookstore, the Pepsi Center, Coors Field, the newly opened History Colorado Center, and the Denver Art Museum. In particular, the DAM is very kid friendly. REI’s flagship store, with its four story climbing wall, the Downtown Aquarium, and Elitch Gardens amusement park are about 1.3 mile walks from the downtown hotels and RTD stop.

If you wish to range a bit further, The Denver Museum of Nature and Science is a can’t miss attraction for lovers of all things dinosaur. Next door to the Museum of Nature and Science is the Denver Zoo. The new Elephant Passage exhibit recently opened. See denver.org for detailed information about even more events and performances.
